Not your grandmas bible cover

If you grew up like me in church, then you would know that every woman had one of those frilly flower ruffled bible covers. This isnt it. I came across this pattern and loved it. Simple and you can use any fabric. And NO RUFFLES lol Here are two i made!  Added embroidery to that one as well And this one was the first i made. Love the way it came out. It was a free tutorial on youtube and is super easy once you make one you will be wanting to make more!

The one with the Messenger bag

Dear. Lord When I said this bag was going to be large I really mean it is going to be large. My husband thought it was a diaper bag.  Im actually working on the second one ( for a paid order) now. Its a pretty easy sew. Some oops and learning curves.  BUT with some adjustments it could be a great bag. One thing is if you are using cotton for both out and in I really do suggest you use a heavier interfacing on one side for more stability. I think she used a canvas on one side.  Here is the new one - Nightmare before Christmas for an order. Oh and this bag takes a lot of fabric. Not like yards but you will need a yard of each of your fabrics you use for in and out especially if you use it for pockets etc

New Bag coming

I have a lot of patterns and I am constantly finding new ones. Free is great. And I then want to try them all. One i have really been trying to find is a messenger bag. I have one- and its pretty simple but it is small and no pockets. And its a bit tricky. Its not hard but the way it is constructed really is a bit weird to do and follow. The only tutorial is a video which i love cause im a visual learner, but i have to watch it over and over to see what im doing. I can get the measurements etc but cant remember how to do it. Ive made several of these bags- most recently for my niece's upcoming birthday. But I needed a larger one with pockets! And i finally found one and its HUGE. Im working on cutting out fabric from my stash to make a tester with it. I have two sold already ( these people really give me too much credit) a Nightmare before Christmas and a Raiders one. I appreciate the support and faith though.   This is the bag i made for my niece. Had some oops attaching the flap

New Years resolutions

I always say I am going to do things- and never do them. This year I have made a few goals- goals sounds like a much better word to me.  One of the things is to write and post on here every day something i make, or things i find that i wanna share with someone. I wanted to start this on , you guessed it, Jan 1st lol but life just sucks lately.  So today im sharing one of my goals- which was to get out of my comfort zone and push myself craft wise. In other words sew the damn patterns i have been hoarding since 2002 lol. So i am. And finding new ones to hoard as i go.  Free patterns are the best. I couldnt find one for a wallet i wanted so i gave in and purchased one on etsy. The wallet is great- the person that wrote the pattern, not so great. sorry not sorry. It was not wrote well and I had to muddle through it to figure things out. But i did. ( I wont publicly list the shop etc if you can find it then good on you)  I used some of my stash of mickey fabric to make the tester. I am go

DIY Cupcake Stand

We recently had my daughters 7th Birthday party. It was a Disney princess theme. We are always on a budget here, so I tried to make everything I could to save money. One thing I wanted was something to display the cupcakes on. You can purchase the cheap cardboard stands at various retailers, but I wanted it to be themed and honestly, I didnt want to buy something that was just going to be thrown away afterwards. So I decided to browse around and see what others had done. I ended up spending a total of 6.00 on the stand. All items came from the Dollar tree. I purchased: 3 serving trays ( clear) 2 candle holders 1 bag of seashells Other items used were E6000 ( or gorilla) glue I glued the holders to the trays after filling them up with seashells. Let dry overnight and I had a cute cupcake stand! This was to go along with the Little Mermaid ( the sea) princess part! You can fill the insides with all sorts of things! Clear or colored glass rocks, rocks, candy, confetti, paper s

I don't use an affiliate link for these , I am just passing along some good deals i came across on Oriental Trading while bored the other night. They have a lot of their Easter Crafts marked down and some reallllly good clearance items Here is the link directly to their clearance section. I had perused some of them myself to have to do not just right now but in the future. I really love their make it yourself earrings. Clearance Fun We have been buying from them for years. I remember my mom buying stuff when i was in school, and i LOVED when the magazine would come in. Id spend an hour at least going through everything. Id love to see what you buy and make with these things. Im working on several projects to do with the little while we are in a "time out" as i call it. Steph
